Holistic Healing for Mind, Body and Soul

At Akshom Hospital, we believe that spirituality is a vital part of human wholeness and plays an important role in the healing process. Therefore, we strive to give you and your family all the comfort and support you need through:

– Pastoral leadership
– A compassionate presence
– Empathetic listening
– Engaging educational opportunities
– Counselling and support in crisis and grief

We respect all spiritual and religious beliefs, and attempt to connect with individuals who are facing the emotional and spiritual impact of illness and crisis. Our chaplains help people deal with issues of fear, loneliness, ethical dilemma, and questions of meaning and hopelessness.

The Department of Pastoral Care is committed to caring for the spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff. We provide spiritual support to people of all faith traditions. Our personnel are readily available to explore spiritual questions and concerns with patients and their families.

Not sure when to speak to a Chaplain?

  • Would you like someone to pray with you for extra strength?
  • Do you need someone to contact your Parish Priest to ask him to come visit?
  • Do you require the Sacraments, including Baptism, Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick, or a general blessing for you or a family member
  • Do you have spiritual questions that you would like to explore with someone experienced?
  • Are you anxious about an upcoming surgery or procedure and need someone to pray with or to talk to?
  • Would you like to talk something over with someone who is neither a doctor nor a nurse, or who isn’t related to your case in any way?
  • Are you faced with an ethical problem which you would like to discuss without fear of being judged?
  • Do you have trouble seeing the Hand of God during this troubled time? Are you unsure about whether He had heard your prayers?
  • Are you afraid, and need someone to comfort you?
  • Are you mourning the loss of a loved one and require immediate support?

If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then you might stand to gain from talking to a chaplain. A chaplain is always available to offer you spiritual and emotional support.
